21st Century Politics: Harmful or Helpful?

Whenever I turn on the evening news and see everything happening in the country and the world, I wonder what the news companies are doing.

Are they helping us or hurting us?

It's clear that news companies are not just reporting the news or sharing their political opinions but actively fueling the divide. In this polarized environment, it's not just important, but it's empowering for us, as the audience, to exercise our critical thinking.

We all have our own political opinions, which we’re entitled to, but it's our responsibility to bridge the gap and unite the population, not just the politicians and political commentators.

Conservatives and liberals believe that the only way to win someone over to their side is to chastise and put down the opposition.

Whether on the 6 O’Clock news, a podcast interview, or an Instagram reel, politicians (from both sides) do whatever they can to point out their competition's wrongdoing or call for action against them.

Now, I won’t deny that politicians of all allegiances are capable of awful, terrible things and should no longer represent this country.

But should the primary goal of any politician be to tear each other down?

No.

Politicians should actively strive to find their commonalities, not their differences. This approach can lead to a more unified and harmonious political landscape, giving hope for a better future.

This country is on the brink of self-destruction because instead of coming together, it tears itself apart.

The polarization has reached a critical point, threatening the very fabric of our society.

This is a call to action for anyone reading this to unite. Now, I’m not saying that everybody has to agree on everything; Lord knows that won’t happen. But the goal of politics needs to change. The goal must be to find the best solution, not one that’s better than your opponents.

Instead of focusing on our differences, we must actively seek out our common ground.

This is a call to action for each and every one of you to join this movement of unity and understanding.
